Fred Hill, a teacher of mathematics,
died in prison on the 10th February 1984 aged 74.
He died while fighting against
bureaucratic interference with his choice to ride a motorcycle
without wearing a crash helmet.
He started his passive campaign
in 1976 and after 31 prison sentences he suffered a heart attack
and subsequently died while still in custody.
Although not against the wearing
of helmets, MAG believes in the fundamental right of the individual
to choose.
